NEW TO CURLING?

Curling is one of the most popular sports in Canada – and for good reason! Curling is a game of fascinating strategy that can be played by people of all ages. It’s a great way to get some exercise, stay active, and meet new people. Try it a couple of times and we’re sure that you’ll be a curler for life! You don’t need any previous curling experience to join our club. If you are new to curling, we recommend that you attend our ‘learn to curl’ clinic at the beginning of the season. Details on the clinic will be posted soon.  For an interesting introduction to they types of shots, terminology, and equipment check out the demonstration here. (Adobe Flash Player required)

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING

You don’t need expensive equipment or clothing to get started in curling. Although special curling clothing is available, it is not necessary; simply wear warm and comfortable clothing, such as a track suit, or a sweater and sweatpants (it’s a good idea to layer so that you can adjust as needed). Most curlers also wear gloves to keep their hands warm, and to protect their hands while sweeping. Bring a pair of clean sneakers or running shoes with you to wear on the ice. These shoes must be reserved just for curling, to ensure that the ice surface stays clean. Brooms and sliders are available at the club to borrow. After you have curled for awhile, you may wish to purchase a broom, curling shoes, and special clothing which you can purchase at our full service pro shop.  We can even show you how it works. However, to get started, all you need is a pair of clean sneakers and a desire to have fun!!
